Local Author Sherry McCaulley Palmer Celebrates Release of Her Second Book
Book Signing Event Announced in New Castle
Henry County resident Sherry McCaulley Palmer, widely known as the wife of a local pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Eminence, is also an established author. She will host a book signing for her newly released work titled The Preacher Takes a Wife: Better Call the Prayer Chain on May 16 at Art @ 106 in New Castle.

Palmer expressed gratitude to the Henry County Arts and Crafts Guild for supporting her work. She highlighted the importance of the local creative community, praising both the artwork and the welcoming atmosphere at Art @ 106, describing it as a place filled with warmth, talent, and creativity.

According to the publisher’s description, the book reflects everyday life filled with challenges, humor, and unexpected moments. It explores personal experiences shaped by family, faith, and community, showing how life’s difficulties can gradually transform into meaningful journeys.

Palmer’s latest book presents a collection of stories described as both heartfelt and humorous. She shared that the book represents more than two decades of writing, shaped by 41 years of life experiences and reflection.
Second Published Work After Memoir Success
This release marks Palmer’s second published book. Her first work, Life with Charley: A Memoir of a Down Syndrome Adoption, was published in 2014 and focuses on her son Charley’s life and adoption journey.
Early Passion for Writing and Education Background
Palmer has been writing since childhood, beginning with poetry and short stories. She grew up in Kentucky, completed her early education locally, and later studied Therapeutic Recreation at Eastern Kentucky University. She eventually earned a master’s degree in creative writing from Spalding University.
Personal Life and Long Marriage Journey
She met her husband, Brad, while working at the Masonic Home in Louisville. The couple married in 1985 and recently celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary. Brad currently serves as a pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Eminence and holds advanced theological degrees.
Strong Church Community and Family Support
Palmer spoke warmly about her church community, describing it as deeply supportive and welcoming. She emphasized how the congregation has embraced her family, including her son Charley and sister, and provided a strong sense of belonging.
Life with Her Son Charley
Palmer and her husband adopted their son Charley when he was an infant. Despite ongoing health challenges, Charley has participated in Special Olympics events and remains an important part of their family life. He is known for his unique personality, favorite foods, and strong connections with family and community members.
Upcoming Writing Projects
Palmer has already completed her third book, Jesus Takes a Walker: Time in a Nursing Home, which is expected to be published soon. Her publisher is also preparing a new edition of her first memoir with an updated cover design.
